All Champions Eventually Retire
In 1981, it was Muhammad Ali. In 2017, it’s Henri-Ann Reynolds.
In the same year Ali was hanging up his gloves, Henri-Ann entered the ring at Anderson. She soon earned a reputation as a powerhouse in San Antonio media and advertising. And for the past 36 years, she’s been dancing around the ring on behalf of our clients. Today, still at the top of her game, she’s announcing her retirement. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication, Henri.
We hate to see you go, but you’ve earned this. Best of luck.
New Client Announcements
Our new business initiatives heated up this summer, and we’re now working with four new clients on everything from print and TV to SEO and email marketing.
Our history of branding and rebranding economic development groups for cities has helped bring us new work with the Converse EDC. “We’re currently focusing on a video to help drive businesses to Converse, whether it’s a corporation headquarters or a store franchise,” said Letty Reinholt, account executive for Converse.
We also welcome our newest healthcare client, Kellum Physician Partners. Kellum has enlisted us to help advertise their new telemedicine product called Kellum Connect. We’ve been creating radio spots, digital, print, and collateral material, as well as orchestrating TV appearances on local morning shows.
On the digital side of things, we’ll be working with Ramos & Del Cueto, a San Antonio-based law firm, on improving their existing website’s SEO.
Our most delicious announcement is that we’ll be working with Wingstop on their San Antonio DMA media placement, planning, and buying. Soeurette Shook Kelly, account supervisor, and Sylvia Treviño, media director, are elated to work with a big, national brand like Wingstop.
Movin’ on up at AMG
With hard work comes great reward, and we’ve got one of the hardest working teams around. With that in mind, AMG decided to recognize two of our team members’ hard work with promotions.
In our creative department, Tiffany Gabaldon has now been promoted to associate creative director. Tiffany, who was previously a senior art director, has shown us that she possesses the drive and creative vision necessary to take AMG into the future of creative development, and we can’t wait to see the new ideas she can bring to our campaigns.
In our media department, Sylvia Trevino will now serve as our media director. Sylvia’s drive and passion to learn about all forms of media, both digital and traditional, has given her the ability to craft masterful plans for any client with any need.
We’re proud to have such a great team of individuals to work with, and can’t wait to see what the future holds for them, and for AMG.
What’s an SSL Certificate, and Why Do I Need One?
Everyone knows that there are plenty of things you need to have in order to maintain a solid SEO strategy. Google’s SEO guide is 32 pages long. That’s right – 32 pages. That’s almost as long as the menu at Cheesecake Factory. It’s filled with talk of header tags, alt tags, keywords, and readability scores.
But that only scratches the surface of what Google looks at when they grade a site’s SEO. There are many more technical ingredients necessary if you want your website to be looked upon favorably by the almighty Google.
One of the newest updates to Google’s SEO score is also one of the most simple. It’s something that you can take care of rather quickly on your site’s backend, and it has become even more important very recently: an SSL certificate.
What Is an SSL Certificate?
An SSL certificate is a simple data file that attaches itself to an organization’s web data. This allows for a more secure connection between a website’s server and a user’s browser.
After a certificate is installed on a company’s server, all data transferred between that server and a user’s browser is then considered secure, which is indicated by a simple

Keeping Busy With New Clients
When we were trying to think up a word to describe our 2017 so far, one immediately jumped out: BUSY. We’re adding clients, producing more award-winning work, and developing websites like nobody’s business. But probably our biggest announcement is our newest official client, Freetail Brewing Company. We’re working with the local beer maker on their inaugural branding campaign, slated to release in summer of 2017.
“We’ve been working with Freetail on a project basis since 2012,” says Antonio Garza, Interactive Director for AMG, “including two website designs, creating an on-premise beer board, a mobile app, and even consulting on their latest package designs. When we got the call that they were looking for an agency to help develop a full-fledged branding campaign, we were ecstatic to be considered.”
Our campaign for Freetail should be getting into flight in June, so keep an eye out for our creative roosting around San Antonio.
We’re also developing newsletters for two new clients. One for the Zachry Group, and another for Acelity. Zachry’s newsletter, Zachry Advantage, is a quarterly publication that our art directors and copywriters will be bringing a new spin to.
For Acelity’s publication, Pulse, our art directors are updating the look of
Over the last few months, we’ve added two new members to our AMG family—one in the accounting department and an award-winning Art Director.
Kelly Roark, the newest addition to our accounting department, has a master’s degree in finance and accounting from the University of Phoenix, and has been with AMG since October. Her experience is mostly in accounting for the oil and trucking industries, so this is her first foray into the advertising world.
“Accounting in advertising is so much more different than oil and trucking. I get to see so many more aspects of the business, I get to meet great people, and see all the awesome work that goes out of the company. I absolutely love it,” she says.
Kelly has a husband and three children—a 12-year old, 6-year old, and a 5-year old. We’re very excited to have her on our team!
The newest member of the creative department, Eddie Juarez, was a freelance designer for some time after graduating from the University of the Incarnate Word with a bachelor’s degree in graphic design. But now he’s been drawn into the agency

To say we had a great evening at the 2017 Addys this year would be an understatement. On Saturday, February 25, the AMG team met up at the Aztec Theater to participate in the American Advertising Awards. This year’s award show theme, Rock the Addys, gave our group the opportunity to showcase their inner rock stars – but the spotlight was definitely on our work.
With a healthy dose of competition from a number of other local shops, we ended up taking home seven awards in total this year. The Anderson Marketing Group website received four Addys, including a Gold for Web Interface and Navigation, as well as Silver Addys for User Experience, Online/Interactive Self Promotion, and Responsive Design. We also won Silver Addys for our 2016 intro video for the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, the 2016 annual report for the Baptist Church Loan Corporation, and a Bronze for the Salons by JC website profit calculator.

Presenting at the AMA Luncheon
From digital to traditional, Anderson knows advertising. On March 30, Account Executive Soeurette Shook-Kelly and Media Planner & Buyer Sylvia Treviño dropped some digital marketing knowledge to a sold-out crowd.
The duo saddled up with all the know-how they could gather, and made their way to Paesano’s at the Quarry for the monthly American Marketing Association luncheon. During the lunch, they talked about the digital marketing process from start to finish.
“We didn’t want to focus on just one area of digital marketing, because it really is a collaborative effort,” said Soeurette. “When we were creating our presentation, we knew we had to not only talk about media buying, but the creative process, too. There’s a lot that goes in to a good digital marketing plan.”
They started off talking about planning your campaign, and then went into the importance of good creative. Next, they walked through the importance of executing your plan properly, and using the analytics data gathered to help you in the future. “We even got into calculating the ROI on your campaign,” she said. “We went really deep into everything you need to have a successful digital marketing campaign.”
The luncheon was sold out, and individuals
